Browser (Mozilla Firefox) Optimization

Currently, the browser I use is the Mozilla version 3.0.11. There some excess if we use this Mozilla, one of them is that we can modify the variables on the Mozilla engine itself. This browsers is allowed to modify some variables and other supporting components according to existing regulations, and the Mozilla Foundation will not be liable for all consequences that we do change this. Here are the steps to speed up your browser connection that I recommended with changing variables value in Mozilla:

Try typing in the URL like this:

After that, press Enter or click on a URL nafigasi button, then browser will display your page like this:

Then click the button with the label "I 'll be carefull, I promise!"
It will display some of its functions and variables typenya.

What we need to optimize the speed of browser (connection) is using pipeline method optimization, you can type in keywords "network.http" in Filter column under the tab, it something like this;

After filtered, then look for the function and change its value, such as the following:
- Network.http.pipelining, (True)

- Network.http.proxy.pipelining, (True)
- Network.http.pipelining.maxrequests, (between 4 to 8)

- Network.http.max-connections, (96)
- Network.http.max-connections-per-server, (32)

In addition to the Network configuration, change this variables :
- Dom.max_script_run_time, (values greater than 10)
- Browser.download.manager.scanWhenDone, (False)
- Browser.zoom.siteSpecific, (False)
- Browser.link.open_newwindow.restriction, (1)

After that, close the browser and reopen the browser to reload.
If your browser still seems slow, try this one again, using the Mozilla's Add-Ons, and after that, I'm sure your browser is faster than before.

Default DNS server

If we want to visit a site, then the DNS server will provide IP address behind its site. Instead, we set their own static DNS server addresses in the system as the default server. This can shorten the time to find the target site, because computer will not find DNS server repeatedly when he wanted to find a destination site.

Steps are:
- Click Network Connections in Control Panel,
- Right click on your connection connected to the Internet, then click Status.
- Click the Support tab, then click the Details ...

type the IP address of DNS servers on a notepad, if already done ;
- Click Close
- Click the General tab, then click the Properties
- Click Internet Protocol (TCP / IP)
- Click Properties
- Select "Use the following DNS server adresses"
- Type the box with that IP addresses.

It seems like this picture;

If you done with it ;
- Click OK> OK> Close.
- Right click on an active connection.
- Click Disable, and wait a few seconds.
- Click Enable, to reload the system and connections.

Bandwidth Optimization

One of the services that are directly related to bandwidth is the Quality of Service (QoS). QoS is a setting in accommodating mechanical sources available, this service will differentiate the data based on priority level, and usually very useful for the preparation of multimedia data.

With a broadband Internet connection or ADSL is certain to have a larger bandwidth
compared with dial-up, and usually have a bandwidth limitation for their clients. However, we still can get the optimum performance of your PC through this service.

Normally, on Windows XP, QoS will take a 20% bandwidth for real-time streaming, but now, multimedia was provided as a free web application and not integrated with the operating system (windows), then the current QoS services is inefficient. Moreover, there are now applications can work using his own application core, with the sense of not relying entirely on the windows. So why QoS will take 20% of our bandwidth?

Here are the steps to change the configuration:
- Click start
- Click on run
- Type gpedit.msc
- Click on "local computer policy" branch
- Click on "administrative templates" branch
- Click on "network"
- Click on "QoS Packet Scheduler"
- Double click "Limit Reservable bandwidth"
- Click Enabled
- Change the value of "Bandwidth limit%" to 0

Then restart the computer.

DNS Optimization

DNS is used to resolve IP to the domain name (website). Technology today, already have DNS services on the client computer (the cache). DNS service used when we want to visit a website (web address).

There are several parameters used when this service is avtivated to make domain names to an ip address. We can change this parameter values expected this service execution time is faster than regularly.

Here are the steps to change these parameters:
- Click the Start Menu
- Click Run
- Type Notepad.exe and then Enter

- Type in notepad:
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE \ SYSTEM \ CurrentControlSet \ Services \ dnscache \ Parameters]
" CacheHashTableBucketSize "= dword:00000001
" CacheHashTableSize "= dword:00000180
" MaxCacheEntryTtlLimit "= dword:0000fa00
" MaxSOACacheEntryTtlLimit "= dword:0000012d

- Click Save As on the File menu
- Select All Files in the Save as type box.
- Type dns.reg in the File Name
- Click Save
- Double Click dns.reg or right click the on file, select Merge
- Click OK to confirm.

Logoff, then log in again for Reload registery.
